Review Summary
based on 75 ratings. 75 user reviews.
When Miken Sports created the Freak slow pitch softball bat, the talk was that it could never be beat. The talk was wrong. Introducing Freak Plus - hotter, stronger and even more flexible than its ancestor. The Freak Plus surpasses the Freak because its patented E-Flex Technology has been raised to the next level with the maximum amount of flex generated throughout the entire barrel of its massive sweet spot. E-Flex Technology is designed to absorb the energy of the pitch and the swing of the bat, and combine them to put the power in the hands of the hitter. It is nothing less than the best when the ball meets the bat and a combination of strength meets flexibility and durability. All of it results in sending the ball into the middle of next week. This bat propels the ball at speeds of over 100 MPH and has a Flex Ability rating of 8 giving it extreme distance. This bat is USSSA certified and comes with a twelve-month manufacturers warranty. Free Shipping.

by freak 4 life - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: great bat:it keeps on getting hotter and hotter the more i use it. I had it for two years and no signs of damage!!!!!!!!! no need to shave this BAT,its already hot.
Cons: none
by TOMBSTONE - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: This is one if not the best best bat EVER made due to the durability and pop this bat has. The ultra are the only bats that I've used that can out distance this one. And trust me, I've used almost all of them.
Cons: none
by Godzilla - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: A friend let me use his Freak Plus a year ago. I instantly fell in love with it. I bought one for myself and it has elevated my game.
Cons:
by - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: WOW this bat is awesome. I have hit with it 3 times. Once I hit on the handle," double to middle outfield. Once a shot past the shortstop. rolled to the wall no problem and the third was off the end and it made it to the track. Cant wait to get a good shot with it.
Cons: You want to hit the ball so bad, sometimes your a little early..LOL
by Rhino32 - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: This is a solid bat! it is the best in the business!
Cons: The only con is that this bat is so hott that some times you accidently hit it out the park.
by panch - Feb 10, 2007

by Big Pep - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: This is hottest legal bat out, especially for the price. Hard shots and long bomb is all i hit with it.
Cons: I have broken two this year. So i had to purchase two at once this time.
by Trouble - Feb 10, 2007

Cons:
by Bad to the Bone - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: I never played softball in my life, I bought a FREAK PLUS and all I do is hit homers!
Cons: I can't hit singles.
by Blue Eyes - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: This is a HOT bat... Even for a girl.. Some people dont like it when my boyfriend uses it they think that it is a U2 and well it is sad when you have to give them the Invoice saying that it is a Freak Plus.. He can hit 40 balls and everyone is gone like 350feet or more...
Cons: There is none
by THEDIESEL - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: I used to hit to left field all the tim and i could never get the ball past 250 feet. now with the freak+ i hit bombs all over the field and i can hit line drives anytime i want. i went from base hitter to multiple run hitter. Good choice in bat i own three now.
Cons: NONE! (fyi for the people whos freak +'s break DONT HIT IT OFF THE HANDLE AND IT WONT BREAK!) it has a big sweet spot so use it!
by swingmiss - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: It's a composite bat, what do you expect from plastic and carbon fibers woven together? I'm so good with this bat I can just stand at the plate and the ball flies straight from the pitcher's hand and into the trees beyond left field because I am that good and the ball is that scared.
Cons: I'm too good and I have to pay for my bats.
by The Freakers - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: this bat is still the best out there its second to none!!!!!
Cons: none
by byebyeball - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Durability. I need a bat that's gonna perform for 100+ games a year and the freak brings it.
Cons: Whole team uses it.
by Crank4DaFence - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Buy one before they are gone.
Cons: Still $189 after all these years? Worth every penny.
by doogie - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: I own the whole freak series. plus,100, and the 98. THis bat is about 15 short of the Ultra 2 in distance. wow. if this bat isnt in you bag, What are you doing?????!!!????!!!
Cons: its so hot that you swing out of your shoes tring for that 400ft. bomb. this bat is dummie hot.
by long ball hitter - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Very hott. Alot of cats on my team uses one so I had to buy one and it is very hott. I am a long ball hitter and so it gives the ball that extra push to get out of here
Cons: Not that durable I have seen them crack, but that was after a lot of usage.
by nolimit99 - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: This is one of the best bats I have ever swung and the best bat that I have owned. hot out of wrapper!!!
Cons: nada
by peanut - Feb 10, 2007

Cons: Other than being not ASA certified, None.
by - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: incredible pop, great bat. After 40 games it feels like it's just broken in.
Cons:
by Maggard - Feb 10, 2007

by Scott - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: This is one the hottest bats for the price. It takes about 50 to 100 hits to break in but worth the money.

by Irwin - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Great band for the buck! Excellent pop, great feel, lasting durability! By far the best bat for the money if not the best bat on the market! Personal homerun derby winning bat!
Cons: Same as all composites... Break-in time but keeps getting hotter!
by Keano - Feb 10, 2007

by Eroc - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: I love this bat I have played ball for many years, I have always been a solid hard hitter but never many home runs. Well not now first 15 pitchs I mashed the ball 6 times, this bat is unreal out of the wrapper!
Cons: None Yet.
by misfit - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: I was hitting a few homers with other bats im only a 160 pound guy and with the freak im hitting 300 and farther
Cons: none as of yet
by Rubley - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: This is one of the best bats i have ever used. When u hit the ball in the sweet spot man is just explodes off of the bat.
Cons: I just wish it had a bigger sweet spot. That would be great.
by glenn - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: I've had this same bat since they came out with the Freak+,1 bat in 5 years is pretty darn good. I 've let anyone from 100-300+ pounds use this bat and it has opened a many of eyes with its durability and pop. I have played from league ball to traveling tournment ball and it has produced big time. I will never leave home without it.
Cons: It has so much pop when you do miss a good or bad pitch the ball hangs up in the air for anybody to walk up under. No bloppers or lucky dink shots.
by jrt ferrari - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: hott hott hott. endloaded. cheap.
Cons: breakable
by ADENT09 - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: crazy powerful bat, and definitely ready to go straight out of the wrapper.
Cons: illegal in ASA leagues.
by THORNY - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: FREAKISHLY hott.. im 145 lbs hitting seeds 350+ feet on accident. cheap. huge sweet spot. endloaded
Cons: people think you are using a shaved bat. prolly not the most durable, broke my 1st in about 3 mnths
by mike - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: good bat , has good pop from the get go , it gets better as you use it , in my league we use a 44 core ball 325 compression rating and on average i can send them 300-315 ft, this bat is best buy for money
Cons: the only thing is the grip dont last long you will need to regrip it
by - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Ball came off the bat really well.
Cons: Breaks easily, after a year and probably not a hundred pitches the bat cracked.
by Rufio - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: This is an amazing bat. Just as much pop as some of the best bats out there. I think the durability is outright the best for sure! This thing is built like a tank. Everyone on my team loves this bat. I've usually considered myself a Demarini fan but after hitting this, I seriously have to reconsider.
Cons: None! As a reminder you should NEVER use these kinds of bats in the batting cages with the yellow dimpled practice balls. That's a good way to break your bat in a second. I read in some reviews that people have broken their bats doing this. These bats are only intended for regulation softballs!
by mattgame - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Great bat. The ball jumps off of the bat. I haven't had any problems as far as cracking or such.
Cons: None.
by rick102980 - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Great bat love it hit my first homerun. Great sweet spot everyone on the team loves it, and the ball markes wipe off real easy can keep the bat looking good.
Cons: Scratches show real easy because it is black other then that best bat I have used
by cowboy 00 - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: great bat once broke in...massive sweetspot....close to ultra 2...best bat for the price
Cons: everyone wants to use it
by B-52 - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Barely feel the ball leaving the bat, Easy homers, great line drives, impossible to get grounders.
Cons: Hitting pitchers and shortstops. Used my bat in two (2) games and it cracked after someone missed the sweet spot.
by freak n long ball - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Bat was hot out of the wrapper. Starting jacking shots during first couple of hits for break in
Cons: Had one crack
by Hernandez - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Purchased the bat from the reviews I've read. Has not disappointed. My average instantly increased, as has my confidence at the plate. Hit the game winner this past game. The ball jumps off the bat. Now thinking of purchasing a second Freak Plus with a heavier weight. Also, the return policy with softballbats.com made is so easy to purchase and return my first selection that this is the only place I would ever make another purchase. The day they recieved the returned bat they shipped the new one. Opted for free delivery - took only two days to arrive! These guys are the best.
Cons: Haven't found any.
by mattgame - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Just to add on to my last review. I took the Freak out today and hit some 400ft shots!! When you catch it on the sweet spot it's gone!!
Cons: May be too good!!!
by - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Good weight, nice pop, should be a great bat with a few more swings.
Cons: The grip is spongy, the bat rattles while swinging.
by jbird - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: ball comes off real hard no joke..this is the real deal!! great price for a great bat!

by - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Hit great after 100 hits. Great bat so far!
Cons: None
by RunninRebel - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: great bat once broken in hits awesome everyone on my team loves the bat and hitting all over the field
Cons: takes a little time to break in but after the first year of use it hits really well
by BT - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Price, pop, distance, durability (old Freak + finally cracked after 6 years and thousands of swings)
Cons: Grip on my new Freak + has changed is less than desirable.
by Johnathon Finch - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: First experience buying a quality slow-pitch bat, and it makes all the difference in the world versus a "Walmart" type bat. Used it in a game for the first time today after hitting some BP with it....AWESOME! Everything is either a HARD line drive, or if I'm a little low, out of the park! Great Bat, and justbats.com is a great and FAST place to order it from.-J.Finch
Cons: None thus far.
by - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Awesome bat. I'm hitting shots now and my wife went from a line drive base hit player to putting the ball over outfielder heads
Cons: Everyone now wants to use my bat
by mbstone9 - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Great bat so far, only played a scrimmage and two games but great pop so far.
Cons: Had to put on a padded grip but it was mainly for comfort.
by Zajaho - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Not being a power hitter, I was amazed at the speed the ball came off the bat. It will make you feel like a major leaguer. Best hitter on our team used it and said it was the best bat he had used in 10 years. Even the women on our team have started using it. I normally use a 34 in 30 oz, went down to a 29 oz...world of difference
Cons: Not being certified by the ASA, or being banned by the ASA sucks because we can't use the bat in a game. Batting practice is a turkey shoot, but I hope we don't get caught using it during the game.
by bone - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: I'm on my 2nd in 4 years and play 4 games/week year round. They both get heavy use and neither bat has damage, and both hit BOMBS!!! Like 50 said "I got the magic stick"!!!
Cons: Nada
by jho - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Haven't used it in a game yet, but put 50 practice swings on it and hit 3 shots over 300 ft...I'm not a power hitter, but when you really get a hold of one with this bat it just launches...can tell the more hits I was accumulating the hotter the bat got...can't wait to use it in a game this weekend! Will place another review after a few games
Cons: Stiff out of the wrapper
by Blitz - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Bought multiple bats at the same time with this bat such as MV3,Freak+ PM, MIZUNO FRENZY 2. This bat by far id the best one for the money
Cons: Its that only bat you can swing after you have it with all around versatility and pop.
by - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: I bought this bat for a moderate pitch softball league. So far no complaints I havent hit any homeruns or anything but im not really a homerun hitter. Even if your not trying to smash the ball outta the yard the bat still is very nice to use. I've put quite a few hits on it and its only getting hotter.
Cons:
by Alpo - Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Once it gets hot it is a bat that gives confidence. I hit a bomb against a stiff wind the other night that I'm not sure I could have done with any other bat. Wasn't trying for long-ball swing either. If you hit it sweet, it's a rope.
Cons: Takes a little more time than normal to get hot. Would have probably gotten another "psycho" if I could do it all over again.
