Pros: My daughter who plays 12U has had this bat for about 6 months now. This bat has great pop right out of the wrapper. You can really tell the added distance on the ball when it comes off this bat. Great job with this bat. Also I love the sound that it makes when connects with the ball.
Cons: none
New for 2012! Since 1884, Louisville Slugger has been producing some of the most technologically advanced and highest performing bats in the game. One of their most popular fastpitch bats, the Catalyst, has gotten a facelift and returns as one of the hottest bats on the market! The Catalyst is now made entirely from Louisville Slugger's new LS-2X Composite, which is the same material used on it's highest end bats. LS-2X Composite uses new thinner, high-strength and lightweight graphite fibers which allows for reduced wall thickness, creating better performance while maintaining durability. The thinner fibers allow for the use of more layers in the barrel for added strength, but with an overall wall that is thinner with considerably more trampoline effect. The Catalyst is also equipped with S1 iD Technology that allows the barrel to flex to its maximum allowable performance level from SWING 1. Two inner discs are positioned inside the barrel at the sweetspot to stop the barrel from from flexing past the legal limit. For players, this means they really do get MAXIMUM allowable performance and a larger performing sweetspot. With a balanced swing weight and a cushioned synthetic grip on the 7/8" standard handle, players will be able to swing the Catalyst with ease. Louisville Slugger: Intimidate at the Plate! The Catalyst is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: My daughter used this bat for 10u torney play. The ball jumped off the bat and added 25-30 feet to distance the ball traveled. great bat for power hitters.
Cons: Has to be some type of design flaw. Used the bat for 3 torneys about 15 games and the bat broke (had a rattle inside). Under warranty, sent it back and got a new one. After 1 torney same thing happened! Beware!!!!!

Pros: At least I can hit with it.
Cons: Well, I've had this bat since August, and it's now April of the next year. The bat hurts my hands a lot, and the sound is just horrible. I think this bat might be defective. If anything, my batting has gone down a notch.

Pros: None that I can think of!
Cons: I bought this for my 17 year old daughter because she had an older version of this bat that she used for years that she absolutely loved. She used this bat for 2 months during high school softball in August, 2011 and received several comments that the bat sounded strange whenever she hit the ball. She initially thought that it was due to the 'newer technology' of this bat but quickly realized that the bat was defective and must have been broken since day one. I'm definitely going to return this bat even though it's a major inconvenience, but I'm extremely disappointed that the bat was defective and would not recommend buying it.

Don't see many reviews on this bat. How does it compare to the FP12C2? In your own opinion which is the better bat?
Asked by Jay on Nov 09, 2011
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS Catalyst: FP12C Fastpitch bat is basically the same bat as the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPS Catalyst: FP12C2 Fastpitch bat. The only difference between the two bats is the length to weight ratio and the color of the graphics. The FP12C has a -10 length to weight ratio and the FP12C2 has a -12 length to weight ratio.
· Nov 09, 2011
