Pros: I've purchase many very good bats before, but this one already rates up at the top after only a couple of games. DD loves it, says she can feel a big difference, especially toward the end of the bat (a lot more power)
Cons: Price is a bit much, but I guess if you want a very good bat...
This year DeMarini has once again outdone themselves with some of the hottest fastpitch bats on the market! The new CF4 ST features DeMarini's Pitch Black Plus Composite which is the tightest and strongest composite weave in the game! This year they have added twice as much Silver Trace, a fortified bonding agent, to make the CF4 ST stiffer and virtually indestructible. For the player, this means the sweetspot can be taken farther along the barrel. The added Silver Trace on the handle adds strength which maximizes power transfer to the barrel for unbelievable performance! The CF4 ST also features DeMarini's Clutch 2 Endcap which increases stiffness to hold energy in the barrel of composite bats. For you, this means even more explosive hits! The new and improved Hybrid Performance Grip features a sleek faded color look and a two-piece design for a thin performance feel. The CF4 ST also has DeMarini's patented Rotation Index which helps remind players to rotate the bat for a perfectly even break-in! This will benefit the performance of the bat by increasing its pop and extending its life. DeMarini: Insane Dedication to Performance! The CF4 ST is approved for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, and ISA. This bat comes with a Twelve (12) Month Limited Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: Not many people have this bat, so it's kid of like a secret weapon. this bat has INSANE pop and an amazing grip as well. The grip has a little air in it which makes it easier to whip the bat around. So far this fall season, I've gotten 3 homeruns, 2 triples and I don't know how many doubles. Bottom line, this bat is perfect for line drives and bombs to the outfield! I love it!
Cons: Nothing I could possibly think of!
by Mr. Diamond - Nov 02, 2010
Pros: Just got it for my 12 year old daughter and she loves it. It's an awesome bat all the way around. Everything she hits now there is definitely added power and speed to the way the ball comes off the bat. Those little ground balls or lazy line drives are now 'much faster' so that means 'more base hits'... Thanks DeMarini ! Great job everyone !
Cons: No cons...Love it....
by Coach - Jan 07, 2011
Pros: Never posted a review before, but this bat rocks. Bought it for my 12 yr old for fall travel ball, and I was impressed. Took about two weeks to break it in, but afterwards, the ball really came off the bat well. Great bat. The price is steep, but worth it if you really want a quality bat.
Cons:
by Mbret - Apr 06, 2011
Pros: Great pop! Worth the additional $$ over Vendetta. Little break in required. My 8U daughter is hitting HR after HR with 30/20 bat.
Cons: None
by ballcoach - Apr 08, 2011
Pros: First time ever being impressed enough to review a bat...my 16 y/o niece just got this bat and her first swing out of the wrapper put the ball over the center fielders head about 250 feet. Ive watched her for 9 years and she has NEVER hit the ball over the outfielders. Pop right out of the wrapper, great balance, and instant confidence for the hitter. Whole team is jealous!
Cons: None that I can see
by Techniquevsequipment - Apr 18, 2011
Pros: My daughter hit well with aluminum alloy; but felt her performance with the cf4 was enhanced. Technique probably prevailed.
Cons: Bat fractured after one varisty season and travel season. Of course this came after the warranty expired. Don't buy as Christmas Gift. Demarini comment on our situation was "the life expectancy of our bats is one full season." Time your purchase right - - and watch for damage before the 12 month warranty expires. Demarini's customer service department not helpful at all.
by The Berg University - Jan 23, 2011
Pros: This bat is amazing. I tried the Miken, and the Easton Synge. The CF4 has a lot of pop and the balance is perfect. Great Bat!!!!!!!
Cons:
by sports95 - Feb 09, 2011
Pros: I am 15 and played baseball all my life. I just switched to softball last year and had a Easton Stealth. It was great but I didnt get the greatest hits. My friend had this bat and i tried it one game and i was up to bat 3 times and got two triples and a home run. I just made a travel team and my dad got me this bat and i have used it only in 5 games, and got 4 home runs. This is definitely my favorite bat:)
Cons: I feel bad for people who dont have this bat!
by lvexpress09 - Feb 14, 2011
Pros: my daughter plays 12U travel ball. Last season she only had three extra base hits. In just 14 at bats this year she has 7 extra base hits, including a bomb home run. Amazing pop great balance big confidence builder, worth every penny. Best bat on the market by far.
Cons: none
by miagi - Feb 21, 2011
Pros: This bat is solid ! has great pop.my daughters confidence seems to grow everytime she hits the ball. game changer!!!
Cons: none as of yet. except everyone wants to use it.
by big papa - Apr 23, 2011
Pros: My 16yr old has always been a contact hitter(singles). On several teams she has often been leadoff hitter. With this bat this year in about 30 at bats, she has 2 home run, 3 triples, and about 5 doubles. She is hitting for power deep. The singles she has, have popped thru the infield too hot to field. She only weighs about 110#. She had more lessons over the winter than ever b4.
Cons: #1 Cost #2 Can't use in colder weather
by ronrojo - Jul 05, 2011
Pros: Holy Cow! My daughter started travel softball this summer, so it was time to move up to a new bat. She had a DeMarini single wall bat (Cat Osterman), so we were already fans of DeMarini bats. In her first game with this bat she hit a line drive to center. Second game she went 2-2 with a HR and a triple. DeMarini Fo Life!
Cons: The Price. I hear that it may only have a two year lifespan, we'll see.
by Big Daddy - Aug 01, 2011
Pros: GREAT BAT! Great pop, I bought this bat for my 11 year old daughter. after the first day of practice you could already see the difference in her hitting. First game that she played using the bat, she hit her first BOMB over the fence to dead centerfield. The ball was still rising going over the fence. This bat is insane!
Cons: No Cons! Price is ok because of the quality of the bat. Plus now its on sale! Might have to order another one. Seriously!
by Andy - Jan 11, 2011
Pros: Seems to have a lot of "pop" to it. Can't wait to see her use it in a game!
Cons: A little pricey!
by Coach - May 20, 2011
Pros: All high end bats have the "pop" we all look for. The CF4 has a sound and result like no other. What I find really intriguing is the size of the sweet spot. Even when our girls hit near the end, the bat performs like it's dead center.
Cons: None
by Killer twins - Jun 07, 2011
Pros: This is my twin daughters second CF4, there last bats lasted 2 years and had many great hits in them. In my daughters opinion nothing better than a CF4. Power, control, the bomb!!
Cons: These bats don't last for ever. After two years my daughters old CF4 lost it's pop, it was dead. Her hitting went south, after trying another team mates bat the problem was ovious.
by Alex's dad - Jun 02, 2011
Pros: Great bat! Well worth the extra money. The ball jumps off the bat and the balence of the bat allowed my daughter to go up an ounce without losing bat speed. There is no vibration after contact. I have been recommending it to everyone on my daughters Travel Ball team.
Cons: On my daughters first swing with the bat, she hit a line drive directly into the face mask of the pitcher. The mask shattered to peaces but saved her from any serious injury. The only con is I'm afraid this bat maybe so hot that it will eventually be banned!
by texasfam5 - Jul 01, 2011
Pros: such a great bat to swing. we were looking into getting a new bat, but could not decide which one. we borrowed a friends and my daughter went 2-3: double, single, and HBP. We tried an Easton as well. The CF4 just seemed a much better fit for my daughter.
Cons: very pricey...I am hoping this lasts for the next few years. I never in a million years would have paid this much for a bat... BUT..... its worth it.
by GAZELLE - Nov 06, 2011
Pros: I purchased this for my daughter who plays 12u. She used the bat this weekend in a tournament. What she found out was she got a lot of pop if you hit the "sweet spot". It's light weight and has a nice grip. Be sure you use it in batting practice before a game to break it in.
Cons: If you don't hit the "sweet spot" it vibrates/stings.

Cons: nothing so far
by Anonymous - Aug 02, 2011
Pros: Bat has alot of pop right out of the box. My daughter is hitting the ball much harder and with more confidence.
Cons:
by Fusion Bree - Oct 05, 2011
Pros: Great feel! Ball jumps off bat even if it's not a solid hit. Easy swings go into outfield with little effort.
Cons: Bunts come off bat too fast. Get alot more popups if swing is below ball.
by Stu - Jan 27, 2012
Pros: This is the second CF4 bat I have purchased and it was not because of any issues with the first bat it is because it is a great bat
Cons: DeMarini had a great bat with the CF 4 they moved to the CF5 and it has an issue with major hand sting they need to leave the CF4 on the market longer.
by Abcarr - Jan 28, 2012
Pros: I got this bat and the whole team loved it. Nobody was using their own bat, but they were using mine.
Cons:
by Anonymous - Aug 04, 2010
Pros: Great bat...didn't even need a break in period. Switched to the CF4 from an Easton Synergy because of a hand injury due to vibration. Problem cleared up because of the CF4 construction...now all hits are solid with the extra large sweet spot.
Cons:
by WJK - Oct 27, 2010
Pros: Great bat, first high tech bat I have bought for my DD. She love the feel, the weight, 21/31 (-10)(11 Years Old) and is looking forward to next spring season.
Cons:
by WstDptfordGrl11 - Jun 26, 2011
Pros: Awesome Bat! I love Demarini and all of their equally balanced bats, but this is by far the BEST one yet! Great feel and pop, not to mention the amazing grip! Being a cleanup batter, I'm always able to send it to the outfield to score the winning run!
Cons: None AT ALL!
by FP Dad - Oct 31, 2010
Pros: My dauagter(12U travel player) loves the bat and the pop it gives. Very live and forgiving. This bat is for serious players
Cons: I waited to long to switch to this bat to allow daughter to get used to the weight.
by Ev@n - Nov 05, 2010
Pros: Great bat I can kill the ball with this bat. Has great pop.
Cons:
by Slugger Dad - Oct 25, 2010
Pros: Great balance, forgiving sweet spot, and has good feel and pop.
Cons: None by todays standards. There isn't anything out there like a Phenix or '08 CF3 anymore. This is the closest yet.
by Softball Player - Oct 12, 2010
Pros: Talk about pop! This bat is easily the best bat demarini has come out with for fastpitch softball. I love it!
Cons: Absolutely nothing!

Ask QuestionIs this bat end-weighted?
Asked by knifed on Oct 05, 2010
The 2011 DeMarini CF4 ST: DXCFP Fastpitch is not end-loaded. It is a balanced model. If you are looking for an end-loaded bat try the DeMarini CF4 Insane, DXCFI

does the ball speed off this bat meet the requirements for college softball?
Asked by Kd on Nov 22, 2010
Yes, the DeMarini CF4ST DXCFP is an ASA approved bat which means it will be legal of any league.
· Jan 05, 2011
This bat has a "Rotation Index for Even Break-In" what does that really mean? What difference in breaking it in does it make compared to other models? (in English please)
Asked by GMoney on Jan 18, 2011
This bat is composite and all composite bats benefit from a break-in period prior to facing live pitching. A good break-in period usually entails taking about 150-200 hits off a batting tee, starting off at about 50% power and gradually increasing as you get closer to 150 or 200 hits. Between every swing, you should rotate the bat in your hands a quarter of an inch to ensure you properly break-in the entire surface of the barrel. The Rotation Index simply acts as a reminder for the hitter to rotate the bat between each hit. If you don't rotate the bat, it won't break-in properly and it won't perform as well as it could. Other bats don't have the Rotation Index, but they still need to be rotated between each hit.

What does "Pitch Black Plus Composite" mean? is it different than normal composite?
Asked by GMoney on Jan 18, 2011
The composite construction is going to vary depending on the manufacturer and model of bat. DeMarini's Pitch Black Plus Composite, is supposed to be tighter and stronger than other composites, which means it will probably be a bit more durable.

I read one of the comments on the reviews list and it said you can't use it in the cold..is that true??
Asked by karina on Jul 18, 2011
We suggest that you don't use this bat in extreme cold conditions. Anything 45 and up you should have no problems at all.
· Jul 19, 2011
I see it is not an "endloaded" bat and am just wondering what difference that makes to the swing/batter
Asked by dan on Aug 09, 2011
The majority of Fastpitch bats will be balanced. Endloaded bat are more common amongst Slow Pitch softball bats. Endloaded bats can be beneficial if the hitter can still generate high swing speed while maintaining the same bat control they can with a balanced bat of the same weight. Endloaded bat are often preferred by stronger players or more experienced players who've had the chance to get accustomed to swinging an enloaded bat. If a player can't generate solid swing speed with an endloaded bat, the bat head may drop, losing bat control, and the bat head will be late through the zone causing poor ball placement.

Hi, Thanks. My daughter used CF4 ST: DXCFP 32/22 last year. Loved the bat. She would like to move up to 33/23 this year. Does the CF4 ST: DXCFP come in 33/23? If not, what is this years equivalent ? p.s. She likes balanced, not end-loaded. Thanks again.

The 2012 DXCFP the CF5 is a nicely balanced version of the CF4.

For my 9-yr old daughter, I can't decide on CF4 or Vendetta with the closeout sale. Why pay more for the CF4?
Asked by Greg on Nov 10, 2011
They are designed about the same, the CF4 and the Vendetta, being 2 piece, the only real difference is the Vendetta is an alloy barrel opposed to a composite barrel with the Cf4.

OK, My daughter wants a new bat for Christmas. She demo'd a CF4 lats year and loved it. She demo'd a CF5 this year and loved it. She a 12 year old travel player who is a line drive hitter. Is there really as big a difference between the two bats as the price would suggest? I know the CF4 is on closeout and the CF5 is new. I just want her to feel confident if I have to go with the cheaper one.
Asked by Marc on Dec 02, 2011
The CF4 and CF5 are of the same design. So she would be good with the CF4.
