At the present time there are only two bat manufacturers making hard maple bats with full size barrels. Xbat uses 1 of the 3 radiation vacuum drying kilns in the country so the consistency of the blanks is far superior to any other bat maker. The result now is over 200 Major League players are using Xbats this year, including most of the biggest names in baseball. Xbat takes the finest logs out of their own lumber, of which 2% of the lumber makes the grade for bat production. Each bat goes through quality control at each production step and about 20% don't make it from start to finish for one reason or another. When you receive your bat you will see the care that goes into making it, it is like no other bat made anywhere. Each Xbat is made from select hard maple or sugar maple which, because of its closed grain structure, provides excellent resiliency and greater resistance to denting, fracturing and splintering. The wood is denser than the northern white ash used in most traditional baseball bats. The result is a wood baseball bat which is less apt to break and exhibits more POP than ash bats. The SB59 ASA Approved softball bat is a long barreled bat with a long handle transitioning to a quick taper. The Handle is a thick 7/8 inch, small knob, and the barrel is 2 ¼ inch.
