The Louisville Slugger TPX HD9 Series: XH1275GG will need a short period of break-in. Probably 1-2 weeks of playing catch should do the trick.

I have really big hands, like really big. I usually play first base, but i need a glove in case my coach puts me at third, or more likely, on the mound. What size glove would you reccomend?

The recommended size for a 17 year old 3rd baseman would be 12". If you think your hands are bigger than average then you might want to get a little larger size.

Is this glove considered to have a flare? I see the thumb is curved out but not as much as others

This glove is an outfield glove. Infield gloves are between 11.00-11.50 and outfield gloves are usually around 12.00-12.50.

No, this glove feels like a 12.75. This is a bigger glove that would work in the outfield for baseball or for slowpitch softball.
