Pros: My parents gave me this glove for Christmas. My Dad put 2 applications of Nokona condition cream on it 2 weeks before Christmas. It took only 2 weeks to completely break it in. This glove is amazing! I'm 15, and it's the best glove I've ever owned. Joey Chandler, Ft Worth, TX
Cons: no cons
Responding to a need for a first base mitt that can be used for both softball and baseball play, Nokona's has released the N80W, a 13.00 inch first basemen mitt that can be used in either baseball or softball. The N80W first base mitt is part of the Nokona Walnut Series. It is made from the flexible and lightweight Walnut cowhide leather that features quality that is second to none. Nokona has installed a modified weave, closed web that gives the mitt strength yet the necessary flexibility. In a closed back style, the N80W utilizes a strong hook and loop fastener on a D-ring which is quickly adjustable and solid locking. This glove was handmade in the USA in Nocona, Texas. Pros: Got this to replace my trusty Cooper. It's a well-made, heavily-built, and good looking mitt. Substantial wrist strap keeps the glove in place. Superior in every way to the Nokona Buckaroo (which I returned for this model). Thanks to JustBallGloves for make the swap easy.
Cons: Very minor. I'd prefer a little padding on the wrist strap and inner-back of the glove. Break-in goes well if you are willing to sit on it all day at work for a week or so — which, sadly, I am.

Pros: Big and easy to break in. Got it on a Thursday, used it on Saturday and have been loving it ever since!! Great mitt.
Cons: No padding!!

Pros: This is a wonderfully crafted glove. It is surprisingly supple. The other reviews talked about the long glove break-in time. I followed the steps on this website for break-in and this glove was ready in less then a month. This glove looks great as well. I wish I was as good of a ball player as this glove makes me feel.
Cons: One con, the price. This glove is pricey. As long as it last me for several seasons, it won't be a problem. But if it doesn't - then it is a lot to pay. So far the glove is holding up fine. But I bought it at the end of last season.

Pros: High quality leather. Rugged and thick leather stitching. Large pocket. Excellent value.
Cons: not much does require breaking in.

Pros: Best glove I've ever owned, and at 40 years old, I've owned a few. I have big hands and the 13 in. model fits perfectly. I absolutely love this glove.

Pros: Wonderful mitt. leather was supple and and craftsmanship excellent
Cons: I had to send the mitt back. The adjustment at the wrist did not go tight enough for my wrist and the glove was too big. I wish they made a 12.5 in this mitt

Pros: quick service, very good glove, this is the second nokona glove that i have, and im very happy with both, easy adjustment, for smaller hand, break in time wasent bad, right at 500 catches in fast pitch softball machine, bout 65mph,2 conditioner applications, and some minor lace adjustments to pocket, and its game ready three weeks for me.
Cons: pocket was a tad tight, took some work to get it to losen up,but nothing major. could use some padding,in the thumb, and the finger areas would make this glove better.

Pros: Simply a massive glove. Bought it while I played first base for a couple weeks. It can catch anything over or under your head it is so large. Has a nice adjustable strap to fit anyone's hand. Great glove
Cons: Nada

Cons: Zero.

Pros: This mitt is absolutely gorgeous, exceeding all expectations. When I put the mitt in my son's hands, his response was just, "Oh, yeah. This is the one." The leather and the craftsmanship are eye-catching, and we love that the product was made in the USA. We were new to the Nokano brand, but were hooked as soon as we took this mitt out of the box.
Cons: None to date. Still breaking in the mitt (which has been rather easy with the JustBallGloves glove care kit), so it hasn't seen game time yet.

Ask QuestionI am looking at first base mans gloves and this seems to be the right one. I have large hands for my age and I was wondering if it could fit? I use a 13 inch fielders glove.
Asked by Joe M. on Apr 05, 2013
Keep in mind that Nokona gloves tend to run a bit small. Since you use a 13" fielders glove I would go up the the 14" model. The Nokona Buckaroo Series SBM100K 14" might be a better fit.

How much is this glove a player break in, and how much is it broken in by the factory?
Asked by Lucas on Mar 09, 2013
That depends on how diligent you are. The Nokona Walnut Series are high quality gloves. If you work with it every day, it should be ready to go in about a week.

My son is eight and will be nine in May and will be playing first base this year. He has a Nokona fielders glove (Buffalo). He is large for his age at 125 lbs. and 58' tall. What first base glove would be best for him?
Asked by joe on Feb 13, 2013
The Nokona Walnut Series: N80W First Base Mitt is an adult first base mitt and will be too large for an eight year old. We recommend a 11.50" to 12.00" youth first base mitt.

Is this glove completely made in the USA? There is no advertising banner detailing on your website where the glove is made Thanks
Asked by Bob on Jan 07, 2013
The Nokona Walnut Series: N80W First Base Mitt and all other Nokona gloves are manufactured in Nokona Texas.

I am a 6'3", 230 pound male with large hands. I currently use a 13" Nokona WS1300C. Will this glove be appropriate for me?
Asked by JayWest on Oct 27, 2012
The Nokona Walnut Series would be an excellent choice for a slow pitch first baseman.

Hi, I'm looking for a glove for my 9 year old daughter that plays 1B. She's a big girl. Is this the right glove, or do you have something else I should look at?
Asked by SC on Oct 01, 2012
This would be a great model mitt for your daughter. The Nokona Walnut Series: N80W First Base Mitt is a great looking glove with high quality craftsmanship. It will be a 13" mitt with an adjustable wrist strap to easily fit the player. It will have the closed basket webbing. This mitt is made from the flexible and lightweight Walnut Cowhide Leather.

Does this glove have more or less padding than a Nokona Walnut crunch slow-pitch outfielders glove? I play 1st and guys on our team have arms like "rocket-launchers".
Asked by sore hand on Aug 10, 2012
The Nokona Walnut Series: N80W First Base Mitt will have the same amount of padding as the Nokona Walnut slow pitch glove.

Looking for a slow pitch softball first base mitt. I'm an adult male with smaller hands. 7 in. from base to tip of middle finger. Is this the right mitt for me or can I go up to the 14 in. Buckaroo?
Asked by brentdeo on Jul 12, 2012
We recommend the 13.00" glove for a player with smaller hands.

Is there any other Nokona first base glove for 7inch palm to tip of hand?
Asked by Evan on May 31, 2012
The Nokona Walnut Series is the only 13" first base mitt we have available.

I'm 13 and 5foot 10inches. My hand measures 7 inches from bases to tip of middle finger. Will this glove be a good fit or should i have a smaller size?
Asked by JOE K. on May 28, 2012
The average size first base mitt for a player of your age and size would be 12.5 inches. A 13 inch model like the N80W may be just a little too big for you.
· May 28, 2012
I am an adult looking for an adult size glove. I use a 2xl left hand glove for golf. My hand is large. 8 1/2 inches from base of palm to tip of middle finger and just over 5 inches wide. I need a big glove to fit a big hand.....is this the glove?
Asked by paul on Mar 28, 2012
The N80W is a pretty roomy glove. You should not have a problem with the fit. Even if it feels tight at first, keep in mind, the more you use it and the more broken in it becomes, the more it will stretch and conform to your hand. I think you'll have success with the N80W.
· Mar 28, 2012
Ultimately is this a good glove even for its price?
Asked by LUKES on Dec 06, 2011
It is worth the price. Nokona makes one of the best gloves out there. The leather might take a while to break in, but it is very durable.
· Dec 06, 2011
I just received this glove and the Nokona packaging says that it is a SOFTBALL glove. Why is it being sold as a baseball glove?
Asked by Kentucky Colonel on Aug 17, 2011
I checked the stock in our warehouse, and none of the N80W mitts we have say softball anywhere on them. Actually, on the rectangular information tag affixed to the web of the glove, it says "baseball" on the inside fold. However, at 13 inches, this glove does have a big enough pocket to accommodate a softball and I know some people who use this mitt in slow pitch softball leagues.
· Aug 17, 2011
Would this glove work for a 13 year old? Or would it be to big?
Asked by Awesome on Aug 05, 2011
A 13inch mitt would be a little larger than average for a 13 year old. Most 13 year olds will use between a 12 and 12.75 inch mitt depending on how it fits.
· Aug 05, 2011
Does the Nokona N80 fit adult male hands or is it designed for smaller hands? Nokona gloves have traditionally been too small.
Asked by TK on Jul 08, 2011
This glove is designed for an adult male. This is going to be one of the bigger gloves that Nokona makes. This is a very durable glove that you will be able to use for years.
· Jul 11, 2011
Is the N80 a good fit for fast pitch softball?
Asked by KSWFFL on Apr 19, 2011
I think it would be. At 13 inches, it will have a big enough pocket and would be suitable for softball.
