Pros: great leather. never too hard but keeps its shape for many seasons. use wilson glove conditioner. makes it smell really good and not crack.
Cons: none. i love this glove
by redsox baller - May 25, 2011
Pros: Great texture.. really has a good feel to it. I love it and have been ever since i've gone to the minors a year ago. It catches anything and feels like it isn't there. Great price for what you get. Nice and firm so you can shape for it for your taste.
Cons: It takes about a month to break in.But other than that, the gloves perfect.

Pros: Great glove. Amazing leather. Breaks in very well with a deep pocket. Love the H-Web and the open back. Would definitely recommend this glove for any outfielder.
Cons: Very little padding. Unless caught directly in the pocket your hand will be hurting.
by fr23 - Jun 28, 2008
Pros: comfortable fit. the leather softened as the glove became more broken in. the H web is a personal favorite and great web for trapping balls
Cons: took about three weeks to break in. although it started a little stiff, i was using it in less than a month

Pros: Leather not as stiff as others have stated. Great feel to it, especially with a vulcan grip.
Cons: Only one color
by kermankong - Feb 24, 2008
Pros: great leather-hard but breaks in soft where you want it to, good pattern too. huge pocket
Cons: the hand opening is really big but you can tighten it (somehow). not a huge H-back fan but thats my fault
by Lonestar - Mar 28, 2008
Pros: Solid leather. Breaks in slowly but nicely. Long, deep pocket. I use mine for baseball OF and softball.
Cons: Very stiff out of the box. Really have to work it to get to game condition. Open back needed adjusting to feel right on my hand.

Pros: looks great. long, deep pocket. use wilson glove conditioner to break it in. preserves it much better than anything else
Cons: none

Pros: This glove is great. I used it all of this past summer and still am now. Took about a week to break in for game use. Great leather, amazing pocket, and pretty light. I have always been a Rawlings guy but i found this glove and it has changed my preference to Wilson.
Cons: none so far.
by kermankong - Apr 29, 2009
Pros: Soft leather, huge pocket, light, laces not too tight (like on some of the pro preferred H-web models), my hand does not get too sweaty, better lining than the deerskin pro preferred. I have this glove and a trapeze Rawling PP and I like this one better. It feels looser, ligher and softer. It is just easier to catch the ball 9 times outta 10.
Cons: Careful with oil when you are breaking it in. I used too much oil and vaseline and it is breaking down a little too quickly for my taste. The padding could be stiffer too because mine is starting to lose its shape after 2 seasons. Definitely use vaseline to break it in though (just not too much).

Ask QuestionYou list this glove (Wilson 1799 B) as a 12.50 inch glove, but Wilson's website lists this same glove as 12.75 inch. Which is the correct number?
Asked by wrxtuner03 on Dec 01, 2011
Both gloves are listed under 12.5" on both sites, you might be looking at a larger but similar model.

My son is 10 yr old will be 11 on opening day of little leage he play's infield. What is the differents between a Youth11.5 & this glove what do recommend for him also the difference form a H-web & I-web?
Asked by Joe on Nov 28, 2011
Youth gloves have shorter finger stalls allowing younger players to open and close the glove easily. This glove is designed for high school and college players. I-Web gloves are normally preferred by infielders and H-Webs are normally preferred by outfielders. I would recommend the Wilson A1000 Showcase Series: SCDW5SS Youth model.

Does this model have the MLB embroidery on the back of the "pinky" like the other pro player gloves?

No it will not have the MLB logo on the glove.

My son is a smaller 13 year old lefty that plays mostly center field. He has been looking at this glove but I'm concerned that it may be to large for his hand. Your recommendation is appriciated.

Is this glove ideal for coaching little league and playing softball?
Asked by d ray on May 31, 2011
At 12.5 inches, this would be an excellent option to use with the youth team you coach as well as for your softball league. A 12.5 inch glove is exactly what I use for softball as well as playing catch in the backyard with my nephew.

How long should this glove take to break in
Asked by beast boy on May 24, 2011
Depending on how much attention you are giving the glove you could have it broken in within a month or so. For a quicker break in period I would suggest looking at our glove care kit.

Is this a good glove for softball?
Asked by bryan on Apr 29, 2011
Yes, at 12.5inches, the 1799B is a great choice for a softball glove. It also has a little deeper pocket as well which is another plus.
